Computing

At Whitchurch Primary School we follow the widely credited National Centre for Computing Excellence scheme 'Teach Computing.' 

The Teach Computing curriculum is structured into units for each year group, and each unit is broken down into lessons. Teach computing believes that by following their 12 key principles then children will leave primary school with a broad and balanced understanding of computing. Below is a poster detailing more information about the 12 principles. 

Here at Whitchurch Primary School, the children have access to laptops, tablets and coding equipment to help inspire, engage and progress through the computing curriculum.

Children learn a wide range of computing knowledge during their time at WPS; coding using bee-bots, digital publishing, data logging and stop-motion animation, to name just a few! Below you can enjoy these stop-motion animations created by a group of Year 3 children:

As a school, we ensure being safe online is at the forefront of all use of technology. We have completed many E-Safety sessions, as well as imbedded within each computing session and use of technology.
